AlwaysON offers a SIP trunking service which permits businesses with PBX systems to use voice over IP (VoIP), instead of traditional ISDN circuits. The service enables the convergence of all local attached PABX's to be connected directly to an IP interconnect for improved efficiency and reduced network costs.
Unlike traditional telephony, where bundles of physical wires were once delivered from the service provider to a business, a SIP trunk allows a company to replace these traditional fixed PSTN lines with connectivity via a SIP trunking service.
SIP trunks can offer significant cost-savings for enterprises, eliminating the need for local PSTN gateways, costly ISDN BRIs (Basic Rate Interfaces) or PRIs (Primary Rate Interfaces).
Two components are required to successfully deploy SIP trunking. The first component can be provided in one of two ways:
The second component is the need for a Managed Communications or SIP trunking service provider.
